Designed by the architecture firm Payette and completed in 2009, the Integrated Sciences Building (ISB) at UMass Amherst is a 188,000-square-foot facility that serves as a major gateway for the university’s life, chemical, and physical sciences. Architecturally, the building marks a deliberate shift away from the anonymous, insular laboratory designs of the mid-20th century, replacing them with a highly transparent, sustainable, and collaborative environment.

This mockup highlights the masonry facade, which uses different color brick courses to give each story a horizontal accent.
